I grew up in Argentina and music had a strong influence in my life. We have a gender we call “rock nacional” which is rock and roll made in Argentina.
One song that I like a lot is call “El tiempo no para” from the band Bersuit Vergarabat. All these years I taught it was an Argentinian song because of the lyric and how represent the situation in the country back then in the lates 90s.
Well, I just discovered that is actually a Brazilian song, way older from the year 1998 call “O Tempo não Pára” by the artist “Cazuza”.
I had not clue about it! And that’s not all. At the moment I figure out this I was with a Brazilian friend, the next song on the playlist was a song I recognized the rhythm but not the lyrics since it was on Portuguese. So my friend grow up thinking that was a Brazilian song, but it was actually Argentinian.
The Brazilian version is named “À Sua Maneira” by “Capital Inicial” while the Argentinian one is “De Música Ligera” by “Soda Stereo”.
Crazy right? Each country translated and adapted a song that was so popular.
